Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager or current Finance Manager to support the ongoing growth of their organization in Japan. As a key member of the internal finance team, you will ensure compliance with Japanese regulations, provide crucial business insights to the Country Head and other stakeholders, and oversee reporting to the group. Additionally, you will play a vital role in optimizing costs, cash flow, and billing processes. This position requires strong organizational skills, a passion for process improvement, and the ability to motivate and empower team members. Your service-oriented approach will make you an invaluable partner to our business.

Key Qualifications:

Requirements:

• 10 years of accounting experience
• Independent and self-driven with a proactive approach to taking ownership of responsibilities
• Excellent or native-level proficiency in Japanese language
• TOEIC score of 800+ or equivalent competency
• Enthusiasm for optimization, growth, and a strong desire to learn with an entrepreneurial mindset
• Preferred experience working in startup environments
• Advantageous to have experience working in multicultural or foreign-affiliated companies
• Preferred background in professional service accounting/audit/tax firms
• Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite) is advantageous
• Strong proficiency in PC skills is desirable

Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assume responsibility and accountability for all financial reports pertaining to our entities in Japan
• Oversee projects to enhance accounting functions, including system improvements, procedure enhancements, internal control policy establishment, monitoring, and tax-related matters
• Prepare and manage budgets and forecasts
• Coordinate year-end closing activities and ensure accurate and timely statutory tax filings
• Supervise and train team members
• Monitor and optimize accounts receivable, review work-in-progress, and analyze project profitability
• Collaborate closely with business partners
• Work collaboratively with HR, general administration, and APAC offices to support the implementation of reporting and management tools and rules from our organization’s group
• Review the work performed by staff regarding general accounting practices

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field
